Refill the clutch master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the air out of the system by having a capable assistant pump the clutch pedal a few times then hold the pedal to the floor. With the pedal on the floor, crack open the bleeder screw open to allow the air/fluid to spew out and retighten the screw. Repeat the process of pumping the pedal and holding it on the floor and opening the bleeder screw. When this operation yields only brake fluid (no air) you have bled the air from the system.
Note that the first few times you do this you probably will get more air than fluid. Pedal pressure will increase as the air is dispelled. Keep an eye on the fluid level in the reservoir. As the air is displaced with fluid the level in the reservoir drops. If the level drops below the inlet port you have to start the bleeding process from the beginning.
These master and slave cylinders fail from time to time and are available from your local parts store.
Good luck.
how much cost to change a clutch for a geo prizm 1995
To adjust the clutch on a 2001 Chevy Prizm, locate the clutch master cylinder under the hood and check the fluid level. If the level is low, top it off with the recommended brake fluid. Adjust the clutch pedal free play by turning the adjustment nut on the clutch pedal assembly until there's about 1 inch of free play at the top of the pedal. Finally, test the pedal feel and engagement to ensure proper adjustment.

It is located on the clutch slave cylinder. The slave cylinder is mounted on top of the transmission. Have someone push on the clutch cable and you will see movement on the cylinder.
it depends on what kind of cluch you want to go with,at a Chevy dealership you can get a Toyota clutch or a chevey clutch. I had to put in a new clutch in my 96 prism and it was a Toyota and it costed me about 800
Just find the cable on the transmission and look at it. The adjusting nut is where it connects to the tranny. You'll have to figure out which way to turn it for yourself.
Check your cable to make sure it's not kinked or bent somewhere and make sure it's adjusted correctly. If the clutch itself is sticking, you'll probably have to install a new one.
I recently purchased a new clutch kit for a 1998 Prizm (which should be the same) from Oreilly Auto Parts for $99.00. This kit included the cluch plate, pressure plate and bearing. Hope that helps.
its probable that the clutch is going and the reason why it works after you start the car back up is your giving the clutch a chance to cool "if even for a second" and the fingers on the pressure plate extend back out enough to do you some good....look into having it replaced.
The brake lamps on a 1999 Chevrolet Prizm may stay on due to a faulty brake light switch, which is typically located near the brake pedal. If the switch is stuck or malfunctioning, it can cause the brake lights to remain illuminated even when the pedal is not pressed. Additionally, issues with wiring or a short circuit in the electrical system could also contribute to this problem. It's advisable to inspect the brake light switch and wiring to diagnose and resolve the issue.
Disconnect the ground cable from your battery, remove the bolts holding the old one on and then take the wires loose and put the new one in.
Geo Prizm was created in 1989.
