How do you get the hatch open on a 88 Camaro with the key not opening it Also NO power lid release button on the console and interior in tack?

Well, on my 92 camaro rs, the open rear hatch is located on the console behind shift lever and between the power window buttons. To open from outside rear license plate/bracket folds down revealing key lock which works with door keys. Have used mine several times when needed to open rear hatch without battery connected while servicing vehicle. Hope this helps...
