This depends entirley upon wether or not the heads were removed in the proper bolt removal order as removal of the head bolts in the incorrect order will definatley result in either warping the block or the cylinder head surface , believe it or not!!!
390 and 429 Ford heads are pre loaded by a sequence of assembley using torque specs in stages during final assembley and if the assembley order is not followed in reverse order during removal then finish pulling the engine from the frame and strip it to a bare block taking the bare block and incorrectly removed heads to the machine shop and have them milled and re-decked to spec or premature head gasket failure is certain !!!
