Use self-tapping screws. Before making holes with the screws ensure that the location is central and at the correct hight.
Depending on the car, it may also be possibly to obtain a (very inexpensive) license plate and mounting hardware kit from a dealership.
Go to the dealership and purchase a license plate holder. There should be instructions as to the installation. You will need to drill 3 holes,denoted by dimples, in the bumper. Install the holder and then your tag.
To attach a front license plate to a 2005 Bonneville, simply place bolts through the plate and through the bumper holes in the front bumper. If no holes exist, you can use self-tapping screws to create them.
There is a plate mounting bracket available from the Range Rover dealer. You can also have the dealer install it if you don't want to drill holes through your bumper.
On a 2001 Chrysler, the front license plate typically mounts on the front bumper. Look for pre-drilled holes or a designated bracket area on the bumper. In the front you will see where a plate can go hat you do is put the license plat up to it when mark it then drill the two holes for it then put the plat back up to it and bolt it on and your plate will be there for a long time
Many states have laws requiring two license plates be displayed on each vehicle, one attached to the front and one attached to the rear. If your car's front bumper is not already equipped with a license plate bracket, you can just drill holes into the plastic bumper (first marking the correct location with a pen poked through the holes in the plate).
Using a sharpie marker, hold the license plate up the the front bumper and mark the bolt holes on the bumper and then using a drill gently apply pressure and drill through the bumper, be sure there are no wires behind where you are drilling and not to drill in too far, then attach the license plate with two bolts and nuts.
You must purchase a specifically shaped mounting base available from dealerships or specific aftermarket suppliers. This base is curved to fit the front clip, and bolts to the front, under the bottom of the "bumper" area and has holes with nylock nuts to attach the front plate to.
The Honda Pilot does not come with pre-drilled holes for a front license plate bracket so first you have to drill the holes. Once the holes are drilled then you can use the screws that came with the bracket to secure it into place.
Go to a Honda dealer and get a license plate bracket for that model/year. That's what I did for my 2006 Civic. It's held on by two screws on the bottom that go through two clips on the plastic grill just beneath the bumper. The top two screws just hold the license plate to the bracket. No need to drill holes in the bumper. Hope this helps.
