To change the fuel filter on a 1989 Pontiac Firebird, first, ensure the engine is off and relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls. Locate the fuel filter, usually positioned along the fuel line under the car or near the engine. Disconnect the fuel lines from the filter using a wrench or appropriate tool, then remove the old filter and install the new one, ensuring the flow direction matches the markings on the filter. Reconnect the fuel lines, replace the fuel pump fuse, and start the engine to check for leaks.
Look under the car about in line with the seats. It should be in the fuel line.
you will need to drop the fuel tank and remove and install from the top of the fuel tank
