You need to prepare the frame by cleaning out all of the broken glass and the adhesive butyl rubber in the channel. It must be completely clean because any debris in the channel will cause the new windshield to crack or fail to seal properly. Next, you clean the new windshield along the sealing edge. Lay in new butyl rubber in the channel ensuring that the backing paper is completely removed. Get a buddy to help you lay in the new windshield. You only get one shot at this because as soon as the glass hits the rubber it sticks. Press the glass into place evenly and replace the trim. Check it for leaks using a garden hose. If you have a leak, you need to remove the windshield and start again. You can save the mis-aligned (if you tried to set it in by yourself) or leaking windshield by using a wire (bicycle cable works great) to saw the butyl rubber away from the glass but it isn't a whole lot of fun. The remaining rubber that you can't scrape off can be removed from the glass (or anything else it sticks to) with lighter fluid.
