You have to take the cover off of the bell housing side. Then you must disconnect all four of the Oxygen(O2)Sensors. Remove the two sensors that are in front of the catalitic converters and the Y-pipe. Remove the Y-pipe and the exhaust pipes. You should then have access to your oil pan for removal. I had to do this to my '96 Sable to change the oil pump.
