The timing sensor is called a Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP). It is located at the 10 O'Clock positon on the crankshaft pulley.
it is in where the timing chain is. mike
The 1997 dodge ram doesn't have adjuastable timing if the. The timing is controled by a crankshaft sensor near the transmission bell housing and a cam position sensor in the distributor. the cam position sensor is uned mostly for fuel injection syncronization. The crankshaft position sensor mainly controls ignition timing and is not moveable/adjustable.
Which o2 sensor are you looking for? The rear located near gas tank?
on the timing chain cover on right side
you cant set "timing" you have to have a scanner to set cam sensor to 0 +or-2
the crankshaft sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer on the ft timing cover
To change the camshaft position sensor on a 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Locate the cam sensor, which is typically found near the engine's timing cover. Remove the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor from its mounting. Install the new sensor in the reverse order, reconnect the electrical plug, and reattach the battery terminal.
You dont! The timing is fixed and is driven off of a crank sensor on the back of the engine. All timing adjustments are computer controlled.
Sensor 2 is the one after the catalytic converter. Located strait down under intake.
There is not one sensor. All the ECM sensors are tied to the check engine light.
Try heater hoses.
It has a timing chain. The timing chain is on the front of the engine. But before messing with it ,I would have the timing check first. You may have something else wrong, like a sensor or a vaccum leak.
