as new as the car is it would have a belt tensioner pulley...its a pulley with a spring loaded pulley to self tightn the belt...if u take the right size of socket for at the pulley and turn the pulley down...but not by unscewing the bolt at the pulley...by using the bolt as something the to hang on to the pulley so when u turn it the pulley will retract and losen the belt to take off...very easy but takes some muscle....if it doesnt have a belt tensioner pulley it would be the alternater that will have to be moved so the belt losens....if that's the case have when u put the new belt on you have to make sure the belt is tight enogh or to tight....the belt will have play in it but with strong applided movement...also the serpentine belt doesnt have to be timed
Should be under the hood and in your owners manual. Click the link.
it is connected to your serpentine belt at the top..the cover is black..its in front of your radiator
To change the alternator on a 2001 Lincoln LS, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Remove the serpentine belt by using a wrench to release the tensioner, then unbolt the alternator from its mounting brackets. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the alternator. Install the new alternator by reversing the process: connect the electrical connectors, bolt it in place, and reattach the serpentine belt before reconnecting the battery.
timing CHAINS
the single belt that runs around the engine, alternator, a/c and water pump is the serpentine belt.
On a Lincoln LS : Both the 3.0 litre V6 engine and the 3.9 litre V8 engine have timing CHAINS
It has one serpentine belt for the AC compressor and alternator, and a V-belt for the power steering. ~Pengauin
On a 2000 Lincoln LS, the power steering pump is located on the front passenger side of the engine, mounted to the engine block. It's typically positioned near the serpentine belt, making it accessible for maintenance or inspection. You can identify it by the power steering fluid reservoir attached to the pump.
Loosen the tensioner pulley. Remove the alternator belt. Remove the wiring cables from the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new alternator.
Counter clockwise
There is no fan belt. The fan is hydraulically controlled. Are you asking about the main drive/accessory belt?
