schukcs auto parts will have a obd2 reader you can use for free.it will tell you the code and what it means.there is also a web site for obd codes.just punch in make model and code it will tell you I took my 2001 Dodge 3500 to a local mechanics garage that had a code reader and he was able to tell me what was wrong with my truck.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn it from "off" to "run" (WITHOUT STARTING) Three times. The odometer screen should then start to read out the stored fault codes.
