Pull down the rear seat, mine is 02 sedan with the 60 - 40 seat arrangement, the buttons to pull down the seats is on the seat side or top or bottom, I don't recall, check your glove-box manual, the important thing is to gain access from the inside of the cabin, once inside pull the ripcord with the plastic tag attached, should be hanging on the drivers side ceiling of the trunk, it is similar to other vehicles in that once pulled in an emergency IE kids locking themselves in the trunk, the trunk lock will unlock itself, there is also a button on the dash I believe that will also do this same operation, you could also use the key to open the trunk, The most probable cause of a stuck trunk lid is that the ripcord with the plastic tag has been pulled previously and has not retracted to its original position (sticking-not lubricated very well and has started to corrode on the inside), leaving a bit of cable showing, necessitating slamming the trunk several times when the cable is showing, make sure to push the cable in with the ripcord when ever closing the trunk, you have probably bent the latch mechanism by now with repeated slamming of the trunk lid, when I first got my 02 I was for ever slamming the trunk several times till it would finally lock until one day I noticed the ripcord was not retracted and the cable was showing about an inch or so, have had absolutely no problems since making sure the ripcord cable is pushed in properly
