Don't be insulted by this, but I assume you know the engine is in the back, where most cars have a trunk, so it is opened either with the same key that unlocks the doors or with the button on the dash, to the right of the steering wheel near the top, left area of the part where the radio is located. If you thought the engine was in the front of the car, that compartment is opened by a lever under the dash, just below the heater vent to the left of the steering wheel.
Just one in the engine compartment under the thermostat cap.

what is the fuel pressure on a 1987 fiero gt
what about them?
On a 1987 Pontiac Fiero, there are two fuel filters: one is located in the fuel line near the fuel tank, while the other is typically found along the fuel line near the engine. The first filter is responsible for filtering out debris before the fuel reaches the engine, and the second filter further cleans the fuel as it enters the engine compartment. It's advisable to check both filters during maintenance to ensure optimal fuel flow and engine performance.
4 quarts with filter.

i think you have to open the cap on top of the engine block and drop the thermstat in there.
i found the diagram in the chiltons repair manual
I have a 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT and the shift pattern is: 1 3 5 2 4 R
On a 1987 Pontiac Fiero with the 2.5L engine, the tachometer filter, also known as the tach filter or noise filter, is typically located near the ignition coil. It is mounted on the firewall or on the engine compartment's inner fender, close to the engine. This filter helps reduce electrical noise and provides a cleaner signal to the tachometer. If you're having trouble locating it, consulting the vehicle's service manual can provide detailed diagrams and locations.
