It depend on the brand. If its a deler item the code is usually comprised of solder type stips that are burned in certain places to create a code.
It will depend on the make and model of the car. They do this so one can make a copy of the automated keyless entry remote.
On the inside of the keyless entry remote or sometimes on the back it explains how to do this. I believe you hold the unlock button along with the lock button for 7 seconds near the car. It will explain it on the inside of the keyless entry remote.
As far as I know only the dealer can do this for you. When you bring the car to the dealer have all keys and keyless entry fobs with you as they all have to be recoded.
A dealership has to do it for you if it is the original from the dealer. If it is aftermarket, like one from car toys they will have to do it for you. Only the company that installed it will have the codes to program it. I have a 2003 xtreme myself, and i have a dealer keyless entry, but I had car toy's install an alarm with other remote functions, only they can program the newer one.
I do not have a owners manual to look it up, i didn't get one when i bought the car
The remote should already be programed to open the doors for you without any problems. You can just use the remote that came with the car.

Yes, you can have a car alarm without remote keyless entry. You can read more at www.ecarsecurity.com or www.autotechs.com
first of all, you cannot program the key individually..it need to be taken to the dealership or the company which the car was purchased.
If you mean the remote keyless entry, try pushing both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote at the same time for several seconds. Do this while near the car. If it works, you should hear a click from the car locks.
The car is the scanner. Depending on the make and model a new key less FOB can be programmed by pushingcertain buttons on the car in a certain sequence. What year make and model are you trying to program.
Id say eBay or Amazon just got to make sure the number on the back of remote matches the car :-) and you should be able to program it through the stereo
