How do you program the remote key fob on a 2000 Chevy Tahoe?

If it's like my 1997, you push the "lock" & "unlock" buttons at the same time. Hold them for about 5 seconds. You should hear the door locks cycle. Make SURE your battery in the fob is good before you start.

My local dealer wanted $25 to "set" my remote. This was IF I purchased a new unit from them. I decided to not purchase the unit from them & instead went online to bought one. The online company was not only cheaper, but it came with instructions on how to set the unit. There was also a toll-free phone number if I had any trouble setting it.

I also found instructions in my owner's manual.

The above works for adding a remote. if you've lost all your remotes or they have become inop.

ground terminal 1 and 4 on the Data Link Connector together. (Top right pin is pin 1) within 2 seconds the door locks will cycle. Then hold lock and unlock buttons on remote.
