I wouldn't attempt this unless you are a good mechanic. I tried rebuilding a Turbo 350 transmission (supposedly pretty straight forward) and got about a mile down the road before it burned up... There are speciality tools that are required and you have to make sure that your transmission case, valve body, and parts are super super clean... Otherwise, you'd be wasting your time...
By the way, I am not a professional mechanic, but I am mechanically inclined and I won't attempt another rebuild unless I have all the tools i need...

Assuming that they are both 4wd or both 2wd and the same model transmission (4L60E), they are interchangeable.

The 2000 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3L engine and a tow package is equipped with a 4L60E automatic transmission. This transmission is a four-speed unit that is commonly paired with the 5.3L engine, providing a good balance of performance and towing capability. It features electronic control for improved shifting efficiency.
