How do you release the spare tire on a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Pop out the trim colored piece of plastic from rear bumper.

Use ignition key to remove lock from lowering hole.

Tools are under left rear cup holder over left rear tire well area, grab inner rear of cup holder and pull up.

Put the two identical extensions together, then insert the larger end into the lowering hole slot in the rear bumper and push until it grabs and does not turn easily.

Find the square hole in the tire iron, put it onto the extensions and crank it counterclockwise.

To install, reverse prior procedure.

Some have a secondary release that can rust and stick, I don't have an answer for that but something is up on YouTube about that.
