First open the sunroof with the latch at the rear center of the sunroof then support the back of the glass and push the 2 silver bars that are part of the latch inward to disengage them from the glass end at which point the rear of the glass part is detached from the car, next you have to pull the glass backward ( toward rear of car ) about 2" straight back to pull 2 metal tabs that stick out of the front of the glass part of the roof and go into slots in the front of the 2 metal pieces that come through the glass along the front of the glass on top, if your sunroof hasn't been off in a long time, like not since you've owned the car like mine the metal tabs that go into the slots start to rust and a kind of scary amount of force may be needed th slide them out, it helps to have 2 people so you can work both sides and apply more even pressure, after mine came out which it did about 1/4 - 1/2" at a time I cleaned a few pieces of rust out of the plastic slot the tabs fit into and sprayed a little wd40 in them the roof slid in and out really easy and you MUST remove the sunroof to check the condition of those metal tabs because they can rust through and let your sunroof suddenly withouy any warning fly off going down the highway like my wife's just did

The sunroof motor on a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am GT is typically located in the headliner area, near the rear of the sunroof assembly. To access it, you usually need to remove the interior trim panel around the sunroof and possibly the headliner itself. Once exposed, the motor will be mounted to the sunroof mechanism, allowing it to control the opening and closing of the sunroof.
A Mustang GT by far
