Buy the new switch, look for a rivet with a spring under it acting like a push button. Reach up behind the dash (the part under the steering wheel comes off) and push the rivet on the old one and pull the knob/shaft out. Unscrew the ring behind the knob and drop old switch down. Swap wires to new switch and push it back up to the hole. Screw the ring back in, push the rivet on new switch and re-insert knob/shaft. Go out at night. Leave the dash panel off for the next time that piece of junk switch goes bad.
