The technique I've seen used requires a body dent puller with a slide weight. You screw the dent puller into the lock of the gas cap and using the sliding weight "slap" the lock cylinder from the cap. This will DESTROY the cap resuiring a new unit to be installed after removal. In some circumstances it is also possible that damage to the filler neck can occur. So if you decide to use the technique described work to avoid damage to the vehicle fuel system.
To fix a broken lock on a Ford Fiesta petrol cap, first, assess the damage to determine if the lock mechanism or the cap itself needs replacement. If the lock is malfunctioning, you may need to remove the cap and inspect the locking mechanism for debris or damage, which can often be cleaned or repaired. If the lock is beyond repair, consider purchasing a new petrol cap that matches your vehicle model. Always ensure the new cap is securely fitted to avoid future issues.

if your lock on the petrol cap is broken, there are a couple of options. ( 1) (if the key has broken inside the lock) call a locksmith and stump up the bill. (2) (if there is no key or the key is not in the lock) Use a cross head screwdriver and put the tip inside the lock, Grab an average hammer and whack it a few times, wiggle the screwdriver until you hear lots of small plastic cracks, whack it again a few more times and hopefully the whole petrol cap should seprate from its locking flanges. simply remove the remains with a pair of pliers and a magnetic aerial thingy. Fit new cap.

To remove a broken aluminum oil bath cap on a boat trailer, first, ensure the area is safe and drain any remaining oil. Use penetrating oil to loosen any corrosion around the cap. If it's completely broken, you may need to drill a small hole into the center and use a screw extractor to remove the broken piece.
It's most likely the spring cap on the lock plug that keeps the lock wafers and springs in place. That's what allows the lock to work properly. (It's much more common for the cap to spring in the locked position, making it impossible to turn to the On position.) When the cap springs while the vehicle is running, your only real option is to get to a dealer or locksmith who knows how to remove the steering wheel, disassemble the steering column down to the lock cylinder and remove/replace it without making a royal and EXPENSIVE mess out of the deal. Don't try to stop the engine; you won't be able to restart it, then you will need to tow the vehicle as well - adding another Benjamin to the bill!Replacement lock cylinders are readily available and only cost about $25 if that much plus the labor to remove/replace it, about 30 minutes.

On the base of the lock cylinder facing the driver's seat, there is a small metal latch. If you patiently feel around on the lock cylinder base you will locate it. Simply flip this small metal latch, and the lock to the release lever will be disengaged. Pull the release and voila, your trunk pops open!
