Hi,I have a lumina 95 which just recently had an air pocket after changing a radiator hose.I was told by a friend who is a mecanic to run the heater on high (hot air)which i did while on a trip and it seems to have worked.
There is a bleeder valve. It is located on a metal coolant line. The screw for the bleeder is right next to the oil fill neck. It has a stick next to it that says do not vent when engine is running.
Sounds like you have an air pocket. Check to see that your coolant is completely topped up and that you have opened any bleeder valve to bleed the air out of the cooling system. Not all engines have a bleeder valve so check this out in a shop manual.
drain the whole cooling system and refill it. You will never know if you don't give details of your car!

You can achieve this by standing with your torso facing forward and bending at the waist. Leaning forward allows you to reach your left pocket with your left hand and your right pocket with your right hand without crossing your arms. Alternatively, you can also position your hands diagonally to each pocket without crossing them in front of your body.
The cooling fan may not kick when the car heats up due to dirty filters. Another reason can be a bad air pocket around the thermostat.
