You buy or rent, if possible, coil spring compression tools.

They are long all-thread hardened bolts with a part at each end that slips over the coil.

Turning the bolt will bring the end pieces together and compress the spring to allow it's removal.

As a rule, if this is the front end of a vehicle, you will also have to remove either the upper or lower ball joint.

How do you change front coil springs on 1969 Chevy Nova?

To change the front coil springs on a 1969 Chevy Nova, first, safely lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheels and then disconnect the shocks and any components that may obstruct the spring removal, like the sway bar links. Use a spring compressor to safely compress the coil springs, then remove the lower control arm bolts to release the springs. After replacing the old springs with new ones, reverse the process to reassemble everything.
