Remove the bolts that hold the drive shaft on to the universal joint on each end.

Once you have the driveshaft off and the crossmember out the engine-tranmission assembly will pivot enough in the motor mounts to let you get at them.
You'll have to remove the driveshaft first.
Make sure truck is level or pointing downhill is even better. Remove the 4 bolts at the differential. Pry the driveshaft forward. Slide the front out of the transmission. Hold the front most piece with your hand as it comes out of the transmission. At re-assembly torque the bolts to 15 ft/lbs.

very carefully, sometimes the universal joint need a little persuasion to separate from the pinion flange after you have removed the clamps.
Unbolt it from inside, lift it out.
There is no cable, it is hydraulic operated.
The driveshaft unbolts from the diff at the rear. If you haven't found this out maybe its best to take it to a garage.
