you havent said if its a mk1 or 2 but have just recently changed my mk1 front bumper and is straight forward. If you put your car on ramps or axle stands and get underneath the car, you will find you will have to remove the splash guard with a Allen key, cant remember what size but these are all accessable. Once this is removed then proceed to look up in line with the wheel arch lining on both sides and you will see 2 bolts on each side of the car, these are 13mm. undo these and then undo the screws holding the inner arch lining out and just pull the front bumper off its slide mounts at the sides and the whole assembly comes out.
