If it's not synthetic latex, go to the store and look for a product called Goo Gone Power spray... It disolves latex paint, so I assume it will take the latex off of the carpet backing as well.

Other then to say stay out of it you cannot do anything, even time will remove the smell. New car smell is partly due to the adhesives that hold upholstery in and Latex that keeps carpet together.
