take off the dash then you need to unscrew the CD player and pull out the wire. (make sure that you have the harness for the new CD player and for the car.) splice the old wires and reatach them with the new harness wires,(they should be color coded and matched) then plug the new car adapter harness into the harness for the CD player. After all that, plug your antenna adapter into the back of the CD player and then screw everything back in. Note that you might need the dash installation kit, because usually the CD players are smaller than the stock players. -Shocker
I don't think there was a factory CD player for the 1988 corvette. The Bose was a cassette player that measures 1.5 din
bash it with a hammer.
If it was factory... it is a Delco.

Yes there are cassette player with rechargeable batteries. Even if you buy cassette player that runs on ordinary batteries, you can just replace it with rechargeable ones.
I'm using anecdotal experience here, so I can't guarantee it to be 100% accurate, but the last car I recall seeing with an OEM cassette player (it also had a CD player) was the PT Cruiser/Prowler.

To remove a cassette from a cassette player, press the eject button or lever on the player. The cassette should pop out, allowing you to safely remove it from the player.
To replace the cassette player with a CD player in a Renault Megane Sport, first, disconnect the car battery for safety. Use a trim removal tool to carefully pry off the dashboard panel surrounding the cassette player. Unscrew and remove the cassette unit, then connect the CD player using the existing wiring harness and secure it in place. Finally, reattach the dashboard panel and reconnect the battery before testing the new CD player.
This is depending on the year of the cassette player and the type of cassette player. However even though you get the best cassette player you will still run into the problem of a cassette being eaten.
