How do you remove the front interior door panels on a 1996 Tahoe with power locks and windows?
The panel is held on by screws in the armrest(2) and then popin plastic plugs. Use a thin screwdriver to locate the plugs around the outer edge about every 10 inches for a total of nine. Use a tool similar to a screwdriver purchased from auto supply that is flattened and has notches made specially for this. The plugs are about 1-1 1/2 inches long so they require more than one try. It will make a loud "popping/ breaking noise as it is loosened. There is a trim ring around the door handle with three tab type attachments, at about 0100, 0500, and 9 if you were to look at a clock. It is flexible if you need to pry it up to see them. Insert thin flat screwdriver at those points and push down to pry the tabs up to undo them and it slides off. The plastic triangle near the hinge side on the upper portion is held in by one pushin plug about 1 1/2 inch down on hinge side of door. The electic window controls and lock will then come out from the back side of the panel as a single unit. There are a few electrical connectors if you need to remove them.

You have to remove the door panels first and then bend the prongs back and they will come out of the door panel. You cannot remove the speakers until the door panel has been removed.
