Rule number 1: NO SMOKING while working on the gas tank
Rule number 2: Work only in a well ventilated area
* Empty the tank * Disconnect filler tube
* Disconnect fuel lines & wiring connectors
* Remove bolts on mounting straps - these are hinged at the front of the tank, removal of the bolts allow them to pivot down and release the tank.
* There is a retainer ring holding the fuel pump / float assembly in place - rotate it counter-clockwise to release.
You must remove the fuel tank in order to replace the fuel pump.

Drain and remove the fuel tank. The fuel pump is inside the tank. Once you get the fuel tank out, you replace the fuel pump by removing the large lock ring in the middle of the tank. It unscrews counterclockwise. Once you get that far, the rest is self-explanitory.
