On a 2000 Ford Ranger ( according to the Owner Guide ) The 5 speed manual transmission takes ( 2.8 U.S. quarts of MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) * fill to the bottom of the filler hole on a level surface
No you cannot. The outut shaft on a 4x4 is different then the output shaft on a two wheel drive. they have different spline counts and the 4x4 Tranny has a different extension housing to bolt the Transfer case to.
If it's a 4x4 with a manual transfer case, you can do this by putting the transfer case in neutral. If it has a manual transmission (either 2x4 or 4x4), you can do this by putting the transmission in neutral. If it's an automatic and it doesn't have a manual transfer case, you would have to remove the driveshaft(s).
