NOTE: These instructions are for a 1995 Oldsmobile AuroraAlthough it should be similar if not the same for the 1997

Using a flat bladed screwdriver, wrap the tip in a piece of old cloth to prevent scratches or damage to dash panel.

The section that is to be removed is the area that includes the front air ducts and plastic shroud that surrounds the radio. It is all One Piece.

There are 4 clips holding the piece in place.

2 Clips are spaced evenly on the underside of the radio

The other 2 Clips are located evenly spaced above the Air Ducts.

Gently Pry the area about 2 inches in from either side and pull the shroud forward to dislodge it. DO NOT REMOVE IT COMPLETELY!

Gently Pry the area about 2 inches in from either side above the Air Ducts until you have dislodged the clips, and gently pull forward.

Now that bot sets of clips are dislodged, the shroud should come off easily.

DO NOT FORCE, if it requires excessive force you may not have dislodged the clips.

The Air Ducts will come out along with the shroud, this is normal.

From there you should be able to locate the 3 mounting Screws.

2 on the Left/Drivers Side 1 on the Right/Passenger Side.

When replacing the radio insure that the foam/sponge seal around the Air Duct inside the dash are not pinched between the radio and the Duct when re-installing as this may cause air to leak inside the dash.

Replace in a similar way as removal, align the Air Ducts/shroud and press gently and evenly both on the top and bottom to "pop" it back in place.

This may take a gentle 'Tap" to seat it well, but should not require excessive force.

Minor seating issues can be resolved by wrapping your thumb in some cloth and with some firm pressure, run it along the edge of the shroud to press it in place. Stubborn issues can also be assisted with the screwdriver wrapped in cloth. EXCESSIVE FORCE should not be used, you may have a foreign object trapped. Remove and try again.
