The Haynes manual says to pull up on the knob "sharply" to remove it. That's pretty funny stuff. I've never tried to remove one but if all you have to do is pull up on it I would think that after all these years it'll be a bear to get off by pulling on it. I suppose you have some interesting reason for wanting to remove this?
