First thing you need to do is go into the cab of the truck and open the plastic console in between the two rear jump seats. (extended cab models) Once open, remove the jack and expose the tire iron and extension bars. You'll need the iron and two extension bars, one with a flat tip with a slight hook at the end. - Take the two extension bars (one with the hook) attach them together - Slip the squared end of the two bars through the square hole in the tire iron - Go around to the rear of the truck - Slip the hooked end in the hole between the bumper and the tailgate, (Note the hole is directly above the license plate dead center.) - Make sure the bars is inserted into the hole as far as it will go. You'll feel it engage into the gear box that will lower the tire. Rotate using the iron until the tire is sitting on the ground and the cable that holds it is slackend. Pull it towards the rear of the truck and remove the anchor through the center hole in the rim. To put it back just reverse the steps. As an additional note there is very little clearance between the extension bars and the tailgate. To avoid chipping the paint as you lower the tire keep one hand on the extension bars and pull slightly down as you turn. hope this helps someone Cheers

First of all you need the key that comes with the owners manual to unlock the lift in the rear under the bed to lower the spare tire.
We have an older Ranger, but I suspect the spare tire is similar. I think you need to find the long-handled speed wrench that should be in your tool compartment in the cab. The spare tire is under the rear of the truck and is held up by a cable. You engage the speed handle into a socket and turn it and it lowers the spare.
