The 1990 Chevy Corvette front drivers side speaker cover will need to be removed. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the speaker.

You have to remove the entire dash panel that the speaker grills are located on. Just pry the entire cover off from either the drivers side or passenger side. Shouldn't take too much work. I have the same car and replaced my speakers also. The speaker grills do not come off of the dash cover.
You do not need to remove the door panel to change your speakers. Remove the speaker cover, by prying outward on the speaker cover retaining clips. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the speaker.

Remove the door speaker cover. The cover is held in place with two retaining screws. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the speaker. Reverse the process to install the new speaker.
you need to remove the door skins first there is a screw on the inside of the speaker cover that holds it on.
Gently pry up on the speaker cover with a small screwdriver or knife. There are screws under the cover to remove the speaker, unplug harness and its free.
remove all screws around outer door panel...remove inside cover of inner handle..remove torques screw..remove cover behind pull handle..remove torques screw...remove window control switch assy..remove screw..near top..hard to see but it's there..remove front upper triangular trim..pull up on panel..it will come off....speaker is bolted from the inside if you need to remove it...good luck....Ray
remove the screws usually behind the door handle, also remove the cover tabs on the door grab on the panel and then remove the speaker grill and remove the three or four screws around the speaker not the ones holding the speaker in place.

Start with bottom corner and pry the door panel off. You will inside to remove (pull up) "the lip" or molding at the top, beside the glass, to be bale to pull the whole panel up.
