I just did a 97", there should be some butterfly style fasteners holding the entire tailight assembly in place. Look inside the trunk beneath the latch and you should see them against the inside rear panel. They're usually difficult to turn at first, but once their loosened it should be easy. The light assembly is all one piece and will try to fall out, be careful not to rip any wires. Keep in mind the threads are the typical type. Lefty loosey, Righty tighty.
