First, find the battery, there are two thick wires, one marked " - " and the other marked "+", these marks are usually on the battery too, first remove the " - " wire using a 10 or 12 mm open end wrench, then remove the " + " wire, also remove the fastener which fixes the battery to the car (normally 2 10 mm nuts), then lift the battery out of the car, if you already have the new battery, reverse the process to install. Be sure to have your radio, anti theft, and alarm codes written down before doing this, some electronic equipment resets itself to factory settings if you remove the battery.

Be careful with pulled muscles or entrapment of fingers, the battery is quite heavy and if mishandled it will hurt you.

Do not drop the battery, if it falls on your foot it will break a bone.

Do not drop the battery, there is sulphuric acid inside, if it falls it could brake and spill a very nasty substance, if this happens (it's quite tough, it shouldn't break), do not touch or breathe the liquid or vapors, neutralize the acid with environmentally safe alkali soap and rinse with plenty of water.

Do not smoke close to the battery, these emit hydrogen and are highly flammable.

Do not connect one post to the other (+ to -), this could cause the battery to explode and it will blind you and burn you severely.

Be extremely careful when reinstalling, + cable goes on + post and - cable goes on - post, if you reverse the connection you will burn all your car's electronics, this will be very expensive to fix.

Be sure to get the correct battery for your car, There are batteries with the posts located in different positions and orders, you will not be able to connect them if the battery is not the correct one, those thick wires are short and do not bend easily.
