If the timing belt broke when the vehicle is running, then you could end up with alot of problems such as the valves being bent... which means the head needs to come off to replace the messed up rods... the pistons can even become damaged (I guess from hitting on the valves). when putting a timing belt on you need a timing light, or if your lucky you can time it and make it run and sound good enough :). Have fun.

To replace the timing belt on a 1994 Dodge Shadow with a 2.2-liter engine, first, disconnect the battery and remove the engine covers. Then, align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft to ensure proper timing, and remove the old timing belt by loosening the tensioner. Install the new timing belt, ensuring it is properly tensioned, and reassemble all components before reconnecting the battery and starting the engine to check for proper operation. Always consult a repair manual for specific torque specifications and detailed instructions.
