If it's anything like my 87 was (and it should be, they're basically the same car from 87 to 91), you have to take apart the door panel so that you can get the little plastic cover for the mirror off, where you can then get the screws off. There's also a little white plastic clip in there, just squeeze those with some pliers to get it off.
Remove the door panel and the mirror is held on with bolts.

on my 89 Camry it was fairly simple. First GENTLY pry off the cover on the INSIDE of the door that serves as a backing for the mirror, next remove the 3 retaining screws theat mount the mirror the it's housing, after that it should be as simple as pulling the mirror ( in it's entirety) off. Ryan

To remove and replace the driver-side mirror on a 2001 Toyota Camry, start by carefully prying off the plastic cover at the base of the mirror to expose the mounting screws. Use a socket wrench to remove the screws securing the mirror to the door. Disconnect the electrical connector if your mirror is powered, then pull the mirror off. To install the new mirror, reverse the process: connect the electrical plug, secure the mirror with screws, and replace the plastic cover.
I haven't done this, but I think that plastic trim piece in the corner of the window pops out to expose the fasteners that hold the mirror housing. A body shop can tell you how to replace the mirror and/or motor.
