I had to do this last year when I got an engine code error of P1416. Mechanic wanted hundreds of dollars to replace the whole secondary air injection system. P1416 is for the right bank. I ordered the check valve online for about $20 and then just replaced it. The error went away and all was good. This year, I just got P1415 which is the same thing but for the left bank. I plan to order another check valve and replace it on the other side the same way again. I have a chiltons manual. Here are the directions for replacing the check valve and pipe:

1. Loosen the clamp and remove the air hose from the check valve.

2. On V6 models, remove the air pipe-to-exhaust manifold bracket bolt.

3. Remove the mounting bolts/nuts and remove the check valve and pipe assembly.

4. To remove the check valve from the pipe, clamp the large nut on the pipe in a vise and remove the check valve with an open-end wrench.

5. Clean the carbon deposits from the pipe flange and the exhaust manifold mounting surface. Remove the carbon deposits from the hole in the manifold, if necessary.

6. Install the check valve on the pipe and install the assembly onto the exhaust manifold with a new gasket. Tighten the fasteners securely.

7. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.

Hope this helps. I'm not much of a mechanic, but this swapping out of check valves wasn't hard and only took me about 20 minutes. Good luck.
