On my late year 1999, which should be the same, there are four pins. Two in each hinge. The ones in my truck are not removable without a reciprocating saw. I had to cut the bottom off the pins and the top of the top pin on each hinge and then put the part in a vise to punch the remainder of the pin out. The new kit I found was not high quality and I twisted off the first one while tightening the nut to pull the splines into the bracket. I had a second kit for the bottom and even though the two kits had the exact same part number from the same supplier, they were totally different. The second kit did not have nuts but rather c-clips to retain the pins. I did manage to get it done after dropping my door and scratching the paint. I highly recommend having a helper.
