are you talking about the rear axle seal...if so,you have to remove the differential
cover, put a pan under it to catch gear oil.
there is a pinion shaft in there that has to be lowered to slightly push in axles to release the c-clips holding axles in,they will drop down into case, get them. pull axles out, ease pinion shaft back into place,do not turn axles ,gears etc and don't leave it out while repairing, will cause more problems. once axles are removed the seals are right there.
use a seal puller, snatch 'em out, reinstall new ones with a suitable installer. and reinstall in reverse order.add the right amount of new gear oil, check if you have a posi rear end.
some may take an additive...get a repair manual on this to descibe in detail what I'm talking about....pictures will help...good luck and be careful.

Master cylinder or drum brake (hydraulic slave) wheel cylinder or disc brake caliper cylinder? drum brake shoes rear
how to remove rear brake drum on 1994 cavalier
Your rear brakes (drum) are probably so worn out that the shoes are trying to rotate with the drum and lock up. There is an adjuster inside the drum & you might can tighten the shoes, but if they are that worn out, then replace the brake shoes.
If it is a drum brake system, then you will have to remove the wheel ,drum, brake shoes, and hydraulic brake line , then remove and replace the cylinder with a new one re-assemble and bleed the hydraulic brake system
3rd brake light or rear brake lights?
