tools: socket wrench (with extended arm), wire brush (optional)
the battery is held in place by a small clamp grip that is located at the bottom of the battery, on the side closest to the engine.
disconnect both battery terminals
using the socket wrench, attach the extended arm & the appropriate socket--and unscrew the bolt holding the clamp in place.
remove battery

Unplug wires and run a hot from the battery to the hot on fan and a ground from the fan to the ground on the battery, this will test the fan.
