These are a pain in the butt. The short answer is to pull out the old switch and remove the electrical connector. Push down on the brake pedal and hold down while pushing the new switch into the hole. Hold the switch in and release the pedal until the rod inside the switch adjusts. Then plug the electrical connector back in and check the lights. Sometimes these switched will pop out, killing the battery in the process, so holding it in that second or two is important. You may want to have someone pushing the pedal from one side while you hold the switch in. These are a one shot deal.
