Today (6/20/12) after my CARMAX 52,000 Maintenance was completed I had a note on the invoice that my cabin air filter was dirty and needed replacement. I asked why they did not replace it and was told they did not carry the part. I checked on line for the filter and received information that the part number was PC5082 for the 'Cabin Air Filter - 1996 - 2008 Mercury Sable' $6.99. I called my local Ford Dealter 'Liberty Ford 410-655-2000' to see what the cost of the part and installation was and was told that the 2008 Mercury Sable does not have a Cabin Air Filter. So your guess is as good as mine.
To replace the cabin filter in a 2003 Mercury Sable, first, locate the filter housing, which is typically behind the glove compartment. Open the glove compartment and remove any contents, then unhook the damper arm and detach the glove compartment by squeezing the sides. Once the compartment is out of the way, you can access the filter cover; remove it to take out the old filter. Insert the new filter in the same orientation as the old one, reattach the cover, and put the glove compartment back in place.
Yep, sure does. See "Related Questions" below for more
