you will need a serpentine belt tool and a floor jack and a block of wood. the belt tool removes the tension off the belt, allowing you to remove or replace belt. the jack and wood, are for lowering the engine. place jack under oil pan right front corner with wood on jack, raise jack up to pan. remove right motor mount nut, lower engine enough to wiggle belt out. slide new belt through gap. raise engine, replace motor mount nut and tighten nut. you will need another person to work the belt tool while replacing the belt. oh! and belt can be ruff sliding through gap, when taking it off and putting new one on. approx. $25 for tool.
To replace the belt tensioner on a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero with a V6 engine, first disconnect the negative battery terminal. Use a wrench or socket to relieve tension on the serpentine belt by rotating the tensioner pulley, then remove the belt from the tensioner. Unscrew the mounting bolts securing the tensioner, and remove it from the engine. Install the new tensioner by reversing the process, ensuring the serpentine belt is properly routed before reconnecting the battery.
Put a wrench on the tensioner. Push it slack. Replace the belt while holding the tensioner in the slack position.
To replace the air conditioning belt on a 2002 Lancer, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the engine cover if necessary, then locate the AC belt and the tensioner pulley. Release tension on the belt by turning the tensioner with a wrench, then slide the old belt off and replace it with the new one, ensuring it follows the correct routing. Finally, adjust the tensioner to secure the new belt and reassemble any components you removed.
If the belt is loose or squealing then either the belt is worn out and stretched beyond the ability of the tensioner to keep it tight or the tensioner is defective. Replace the belt and check the tensioner for tension and free turning without noise or side play.
Find the belt tensioner at the top of the belt run; it has a pulley attached to it. Insert a wrench on it and put tension against the spring loaded tensioner. Simply remove the belt and install the new one. Review the belt path before you begin the removal.
In order to change the serpentine belt for a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, you must obtain a copy of the serpentine belt routing diagram from the manufacturer. Follow the routing diagram. Use a serpentine belt tool for loosening the tensioner. In order to position the belt, use a belt placement tool.
There are two serpentine belts a/c timing etc. and alternator just release belt tensioner towards front of motor for outer belt and the secnd tensioner is located on the alternator
The tensioner has a spring in it that provides the correct tension for the belt. If it is too loose, replace the tensioner.
u do not adjust belt tensioner if belt is loose, u need to replace belt as tensioner works automatically
Worn belt or belt that has stretched to the point the tensioner cannot keep the proper tension. The tensioner can also be defective. Replace the belt and the tensioner.
Remove beltUnbolt tensioner and remove
By locating and loosening the 'tensioner' for that belt, if the alternator mount does not include a tensioner.
