How do you replace the heater core in a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass?

Drain the radiator Remove the lower panels under the dash. Go under the hood and remove the hose clamps off the heater core. This will take the most time of the whole project....very little room to work. Under the dash unbolt the heater core (4 1/4"bolts) Pull the core back Have a buddy twist the heater hoses and pull, while you hold the heater core pipes. Have a drain pan handy because antifreeze will rush out into your floormats from the heater core. Once hoses are off pull the old core out. to reinstall is reverse order. Use caution installing heater hoses, because the heater core damages easily....use hand lotion on the inside of the hoses to let them slip on easily.
