How do you replace the lens of a remote-controlled driver's side mirror on a 1996 Chevy Suburban?
Replacement glass is available at some parts stores for appros $15. Carefully remove all broken, old glass from frame. The replacment glass comes with two strips of double sided tape to mount the new glass. I've never trusted the tape and used quick set epoxy tape when i replaced mine.
Be aware that this is a cheap ($15) fix. You will have a mirror and the remote for changing the mirror position will still work. The heated defrost feature will not be effective.
If you truly want like new function and performance aftermarket OEM style mirrors are available on places like eBay for approx $100, which is a pretty good savings over dealer prices.
