How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 Chevy s10?

The quick version (assuming you are mechanically inclined): These instructions are from my 97 S10 but it should be a fairly similar procedure.

# Drain the coolant to a level below the height of the water pump. # Move your coolant catcher to an approximate location under your engine to catch any coolant that remains in the hoses as you work.

# Remove the fan shroud. # Remove the fan/clutch assembly. You'll need a large crescent (bigger than 10') wrench or "Ford" wrench and some way to hold the water pump shroud in place.

# Remove serpentine belt. # Disconnect the inlet hose (the hose that connects to the lower portion of the radiator). # Disconnect the two smaller lines sticking out of the top of the water pump). # Remove the four bolts holding water pump in place. # Remove the water pump. You may need to tap on it a bit to break the gasket seal. Use a small soft face mallet or brass hammer. # Thoroughly remove any old gasket and be careful to not let any debris enter the open holes to the engine block. Clean rags work fine. # Install the new pump by reversing the order of removal.
