All you have to do is, When the glove box is open just open it again when it's closed. hope this helps.
There are 2 screws on the inside that get removed and pull the latch down.
I would check a salvage yard. Or a dealer.
The 1979 Chevy Silverado glove box latch is held in place with two retaining screws. Remove the retaining screws and the glove box latch will come off.

To remove the glove box on a Chevy Celebrity pull the glove box out, then push up on the tab on the underside of the box to release the latch that keeps the globe box in. It will then simply pull the rest of the way out.

The oil filter is on the forward side of the engine directly below the hood latch.
if it is an extended cab- just hit one of the rear windows, close to the latch- the latch will flip open

To remove the glove box latch on a 1988 Chrysler LeBaron, first, open the glove box and locate the screws securing the latch. Use a screwdriver to remove these screws, then carefully pull the latch away from the glove box door. If the latch is clipped in, gently pry it out without damaging the surrounding plastic. Once removed, you can replace or repair the latch as needed.
On the 2004 model (as well as some others) there will be two screws on either side of the latch as you look at it with the gloe box door open. Simply remove those two screws and press on the latch and it will come out. If your latch broke as mine did you may have to use a little bit of pressure. Once you have the old latch out place the new latch in the slt and replace the screws.
To replace the glove box latch on a 1994 Nissan 300ZX, first, remove the glove box by unscrewing the screws that secure it to the dashboard. Once the glove box is out, detach the old latch by unscrewing it from its mounting location. Install the new latch by securing it in place, then reassemble the glove box by reinserting it into the dashboard and tightening the screws. Finally, test the new latch to ensure it operates correctly.
