disconnect the battery and leave it off for about 5 minutes. come back to it and put the battery back on. leave the car on for a about 2 minutes if it doesnt come back on your good to go. if it continues to flash or stays on permanantley take it toa mechanic so he can read your computer for any codes, unless you have the computer your self. once you have the code it gives you take the car home and fix what ever it is you need to fix according to the code given to you. if you want to turn it off so you can sell it quicker or for a better price just take the cluster out and disconnect the check engine light. then sell. good luck
