To set the clock on a 1989 Corvette the radio must be turned off. After turning the radio off hit the set button and then hit scan. The time can be set using the arrow buttons.

Yes. Although the L-82 engine was not a Corvette "option" in 1981, I've seen at least one 1981 Corvette with an L-82 motor and that option code was clearly listed on the window sticker. I'm guessing Chevrolet used up the last of its L-82 motors in early production 1981 Corvettes. It did in at least one anyway.
I have a 93 vette and it resets by first turning off radio, then push the "set" button, then use the up and down arrows (up for minutes down for hours) on the search button, hope it works for you also!
