To set the timing in the distributor of a 1992 Geo Tracker, first, ensure the engine is at TDC (top dead center) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Then, loosen the distributor hold-down bolt to allow for adjustment. Rotate the distributor until the timing mark aligns with the specified timing degree on the engine's timing scale, and then tighten the bolt. Finally, recheck the timing with a timing light to ensure it’s set correctly.
It isn't adjustable. It is controled by the computer
The firing order for a 1995 Geo Tracker, which has a 1.6L engine, is 1-3-4-2. The distributor cap terminals are arranged in this order, with cylinder 1 typically located at the front of the engine. Ensure that the ignition timing is set correctly for optimal engine performance.
To set the timing marks on a 1993 Geo Tracker, first, ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder number one. Next, align the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley with the zero mark on the timing cover. Then, check the camshaft timing mark, which should be aligned with the corresponding mark on the cylinder head or timing cover. If necessary, adjust the timing belt to ensure all marks are correctly aligned before reassembling the components.
O-Boy !! The engine has electronic ignition. *** NO POINTS ***
e is for the exaust stroke......i is for ignition stroke......i is the one you are looking for
To set the timing on a 1991 Geo Metro, first ensure the engine is at operating temperature and then turn it off. Locate the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley and the timing indicator on the engine block. Use a timing light to check the timing while the engine is running; adjust the distributor slightly if necessary to align the timing mark with the specified degree for your engine model. Finally, recheck the timing after any adjustments to ensure accuracy.
HI, There are definitely a timing belt and a water pump on the engine. The timing belt is behind the cover that is on the front of the engine and when there you will also find the timing belt tensioner, they come as a set when you purchase them. The water pump is also at the front of the engine and sits at the left of the timing belt cover as you look at the engine, the pump is driven by the belt, you can't miss it. Happy repairing and good luck.Steve H.
how do you set timing on a 92 geo prizm if timing belt has broken
To set the timing on a 2001 Chevy Tracker, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Then, locate the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover. Adjust the distributor to align the timing mark with the appropriate degree mark on the timing cover, typically around 0 degrees for base timing. Finally, tighten the distributor hold-down bolt and recheck the timing with a timing light to ensure it's set correctly.
To set the distributor back in time on a Geo Tracker, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Then, remove the distributor cap and note the position of the rotor; it should point to the number one cylinder. Adjust the distributor by loosening the hold-down bolt and rotating it slightly to align the rotor with the correct terminal for cylinder one. Finally, tighten the bolt and recheck the timing with a timing light to ensure proper alignment.
Assuming a 1.6L engine, timing is generally controlled by the timing belt. Can adjust the timing by loosening the front lower bolt on the distributor and then rotating the distributor clockwise or counter clockwise. Use a timing light to set timing correctly. I believe it is 10 BTDC
